Abstract: Deciding on a paint colour for your home can be overwhelming, especially if you want to attract potential homebuyers.

1. Warm green tones

If you're someone who likes to incorporate colour into your home, warm greens can add personality while getting the job done.

Warm greens are popular colours that feel rich and vibrant.

Kirk suggests choosing a shade of green, such as Evergreens by Sherwin-Williams, to help create areas of comfort that can be enhanced by lighting.

We are seeing an increased interest in green in kitchen spaces as people want to move away from pure white and grey," says Kirk.

2. Neutral colours

Neutral tones, which appeal to many people, will remain a popular choice for home sellers and homeowners in 2023.

Admittedly, neutrals will never go out of fashion, and warm neutrals are especially important now.

Instead of stodgy whites, people are opting for more creamy, earthy neutrals.

"They provide a base that you can layer, change seasonally and update regularly," says Kirk." The blank canvas provides a backdrop for homebuyers to envision their own version of the space and how special memorabilia, heirlooms and artwork can make it their own.

Neutral walls are also easy for homebuyers to change.

If you're looking for a go-to white, Kirk suggests Natural Linen by Sherwin-Williams. dark Foothills by Sherwin-Williams work well for those who want to ease into a more colourful space.

3. An original shade of grey

Grey tones will remain an approachable and popular paint choice in 2023, says Devon Shaffer, principal interior designer at Decorilla.

Clients have grown tired of the default shortlist of greys from builders and paint specialists. Fortunately, more creative shades keep popping up.

One such colour is Dutch Boy's Rustic Greige, the paint company's 2023 colour of the year. This colour has both really warm neutral undertones and cool tones.

This colour is perfect for living spaces, entryways and bedrooms," says Shaffer. When used in entrances, it can help set a welcoming tone. When used in the bedroom, it can evoke a sense of rest and calm.

"A large percentage of our clients refer to the words 'sanctuary' or 'retreat' when describing how they want their home to feel," says Shaffer.

Nature-inspired shades of grey can help achieve this.

4. Navy blue

If you want to make a statement but don't want to be too out of the ordinary, try navy blue paint.

Navy blue has been growing steadily over the past few years and is expected to be a major colour trend in 2023.

Capozzolo explains that navy blue helps to add depth, sophistication and mystery to any room it is used in. It appeals to potential homebuyers.

Try using it as an accent wall or pairing it with lighter shades of blue for a more subtle effect.

5. Understated reds

A warm mustard yellow hue adds colour to a room without being overpowering.

"Easy-to-use mustard shades can be a natural entry into your home," says Robin DeCapua, owner and designer of Madison Modern Home.

DeCapua suggests that if you're looking for a versatile yellow hue, Dorotheum's neutral Dijon Yellow Wild Wonder. wild Wonder also happens to be the paint company's colour of the year for 2023.

Remember that darker walls dictate lighter furniture, so be sure to mix a creamy white with this colour rather than grey, as it does have a warm base.
